The Business School is an amalgamation of four departments. These include the Department of Accountancy, Department of Marketing, Department of Purchasing and Supply, and the Department of Secretaryship/Bilingual Secretaryship and Management Studies.

The School of Applied Sciences and Arts comprises five (5) departments, namely, Department of Science Laboratory Technology, Department of Fashion Design and Textiles, Department of Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Department of Computer Science.

The Engineering School has five departments under it. These are the departments of Building Technology, Mechanical, Furniture Design and Production, Electrical/Electronic, and the Civil Engineering. The School is focused on servicing the nation’s industry needs of specialist technicians for its development.


The role of Research & Innovation Centre in Accra Polytechnic is to provide end-to-end services which facilitate and support all stages of research and innovation development, from initial funding through to commercialisation, where appropriate. Research & Innovation provides support and assistance to the Polytechnic's academic staff in their quest for research funding and other support. The unit is the Polytechnic's liaison with funding bodies, industry and business, and oversees all contracts relating to research, consultancy and commercialisation.

On the part of faculty members, Information and resources are designed to assist them in their teaching, research, and management responsibilities. Where as on the part of staff and administrators, Training Programs are designed to assist them with their work to support the Polytechnic's mission.
Accra Polytechnic has been involved in many activities that provide support to the community. Staff and students are dedicated to sharing their energy and expertise with individuals, families and community organisations to make a difference. Accra Polytechnic's many Faculty Advisory Councils provide a highly valuable link to industry and the community as they lend their expertise to our staff and students and help shape programs.


Ghana will host the third edition of the West African Polytechnic Games, WAPOGA in August this year.
The Games seek to use sports to foster unity and collaboration in the West African Sub Region.
About 56 Polytechnics from both Anglophone and Francophone countries will be participating in the disciplines such as volley ball, basket ball and athletics and will be hosted by Accra Polytechnic. As part of preparations, a 54 member delegation is in Accra to assess the countries preparedness for the games.
They visited the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to seek its support for the upcoming games.
