DESIGN, TESTING AND ANALYSIS OF SINGLE PHASE ELECTRONIC CHANGEOVER WITH SECURITY LIGHT

Abstract


This paper presents the design of a single phase changeover with security light. The methodology was purely experimental and consisted of a sensing stage (Voltage and Day/Night) followed by a logic control stage that uses microcontroller and switch relays to achieve the smooth transition between the mains power supply and the auxiliary power supply as well as controlling security lights. The system was constructed and tested and results showed an ideal operation that meet desire expectations with a total cost of GH¢590. The proposed single phase changeover emanates as a solution to the constant and frequent power outages faced by developing countries. In addition many other essential processes mostly encountered in micro-enterprises and homes, which need 100% uninterrupted power supply will be reliably fed with electric power using the designed single phase electronic changeover. Moreover the automatic light that is provided in presence of darkness serves as a primary security measure.
